Getting started

Create your account, choose a plan and make your first sale.

Create your account

Sign up with your business name, currency and email. We email you a verification link; the account is created right away but stays inactive until you verify and pay the first month.

  1. Open Get started and fill in your business name, currency (USD or BDT), your name, email and a password.
  2. Open the verification link in the email we send you.
  3. Sign in. You are taken to Choose your plan.
  4. Pick a plan and pay the first month. In USD you pay by card; in BDT you scan our QR code with bKash or your banking app and enter the transaction ID.
  5. Card payments switch your account on within seconds. QR payments are confirmed by our team, and we email you when the account is active.

Plans

Starter (POS): one store with point of sale, inventory, customers, loyalty and reports.

Growth (POS + Accounting): several stores, a full double-entry ledger, financial statements and accountant sign-ins.

Business (POS + Accounting + Wholesale): everything in Growth plus wholesale ordering for sales reps.

Every sale updates stock and posts a balanced journal entry on every plan. Plans only decide which screens you can see.

Your first 15 minutes

A new account already has a chart of accounts, an open accounting period, one store, one register and one stock location.

  1. Settings: check your currency symbol, tax label and rate, timezone and receipt paper size, and upload your logo.
  2. Products: add a few products, or import them all from a CSV file.
  3. Inventory: record your opening stock.
  4. Users & stores: invite your staff and give each one a role.
  5. Open register: start a shift and ring up your first sale.

Setting up your business

Settings, staff, stores and your product catalog.

Business settings

Settings holds your currency symbol, default tax label and rate, timezone, how discounts are taxed, cash rounding, receipt paper size and auto-print, the receipt printer bridge, and your logo.

Your currency is fixed once the first transaction is posted, so every record in your books stays in one currency. The symbol can still be changed.

Only the owner can change settings.

Users and roles

Each staff member signs in with their own email. Their role decides what they can see and do:

Owner: everything, including billing and settings. Manager: selling, stock, customers, reports and approvals. Cashier: the register, returns and shifts. Accountant: reports and accounting (Growth and Business). Sales rep: wholesale ordering on a phone (Business). Kiosk: the self-checkout screen only.

On Growth and Business you can tie a user to one store, so a cashier can only open shifts and sell there.

  1. Go to Users & stores and choose Add user.
  2. Enter their name, email and a temporary password, and pick a role (and a store if needed).
  3. Share the sign-in details. They can change their password later.

Stores and registers

A store is a shop location; a register is a till inside it. Each register runs its own shifts and cash drawer. Add stores and registers from Users & stores. Starter includes one store; Growth and Business allow more.

Products, variants and categories

A product can have variants (for example sizes), each with its own SKU, barcode, price and tax category. Categories group products on the register and in reports.

Products can be sold in retail, in wholesale, or both. Wholesale products can carry their own wholesale price.

Import from CSV

Import products, customers, suppliers and opening stock from CSV files. Each importer shows the exact columns it expects.

Every row is checked before anything is saved. If one row has a problem, nothing is imported and you get the list of rows to fix.

Importing opening stock posts one opening-balance journal for the total value.

Barcodes and labels

Print barcode label sheets from Inventory: select products, choose how many copies, and download the PDF.

Scan with any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner, or with the camera of a phone or tablet. The camera needs the site to be opened over HTTPS.

Selling

The register, shifts, payments, returns and customers.

Using the register

The register works on any touchscreen, tablet or computer browser.

  1. Open register from the sidebar and choose your store and register.
  2. Open a shift with the cash you have in the drawer (the opening float).
  3. Add items by tapping them, searching, or scanning a barcode.
  4. Change quantities in the cart, add a discount or attach a customer.
  5. Take payment: cash, card, store credit, on account or loyalty points, or a mix. For cash, enter what the customer handed over and the change is shown.
  6. The receipt prints automatically if you set up a printer.

Parked sales

Park a cart to serve the next customer, then resume it later. The cart is kept until the sale is completed.

Shifts and the cash drawer

Record cash taken out of or put into the drawer during the shift. At closing, count the cash: CarrotPOS works out what should be there and posts any shortage or overage to the books automatically.

The X report shows the shift so far; the Z report is the final report once it is closed.

If cash rounding is on in Settings, only the cash part of a sale is rounded.

Returns and voids

Find the sale under Sales. Return some or all of it and refund to cash, card, store credit or the customer's account. Stock goes back at the cost it was sold at.

Voiding cancels a whole sale and puts everything back.

Large discounts, voids and going over a customer's credit limit can be set to need a manager's approval (Users & stores, Approval thresholds).

Customers, credit and statements

Customer profiles hold contact details, store credit and an optional credit limit for on-account sales. Each customer has a statement of what they bought, returned and paid.

Record customer payments against their balance. Customer data can be erased on request; their sales stay in the books without the personal details.

Loyalty and coupons

Set how many points a sale earns and what a point is worth. Customers redeem points as a payment method. Points can expire.

Coupons give a percentage or fixed discount with optional usage limits.

Self-checkout kiosk

Let customers scan and pay by card on their own. It uses the same engine as the register, so stock and books update the same way.

  1. Create a user with the Kiosk role.
  2. On the kiosk device, sign in with that user and choose the store and register once.
  3. The screen stays on the self-checkout flow and resets after each customer.

Receipts and printing

Receipts print on standard ESC/POS thermal printers (58mm or 80mm) through the CarrotPOS print bridge, a small program that runs on the till computer. Enter the bridge address and printer in Settings.

You can also open or email an A4 invoice for any sale.

Inventory and purchasing

Stock levels, transfers, counts and buying from suppliers.

Stock and costing

Every sale, return, delivery and adjustment is recorded as a stock movement, so you can always see why a level changed. Stock is valued at weighted-average cost.

Selling more than you have in stock is blocked.

Locations and transfers

Each store has stock locations. Transfer stock between them; the cost moves with it and your total stock value stays the same.

Adjustments and stocktakes

Adjust stock for damage, loss or found items. A stocktake lets you count everything and posts the difference to the books.

Reorder rules warn you when an item falls below the level you set.

Suppliers and purchase orders

Create a purchase order for a supplier, then receive the goods against it in full or in part. Receiving adds stock and records what you owe the supplier. Record supplier payments when you pay them; each supplier has a statement.

Wholesale

Ordering and delivering to retailers.

Taking and delivering ordersBusiness

Sales reps take orders from retailers on their phones. The warehouse confirms each order and records deliveries; each delivery is what moves stock and creates the invoice.

  1. The rep opens New wholesale order, picks a retailer (or adds one) and adds products. Repeat last order fills the cart in one tap.
  2. A manager confirms the order under Wholesale.
  3. Record a delivery, in full or in part, as on credit or paid.
  4. Download the A4 invoice for each delivery.

Accounting and reports

Your books are kept as you sell. Here is how to read them.

How the books are keptGrowth and Business

Every sale, return, delivery and stock change posts a balanced double-entry journal in the same step, so sales, stock and the ledger never drift apart.

Posted entries are never edited. A correction is a reversing entry, so the history stays intact.

Your account starts with a standard chart of accounts and an open accounting period for the year.

Manual journal entriesGrowth and Business

Use Journal to post entries that don't come from a sale, such as rent or owner investment. Debits must equal credits before it can be saved.

Financial statementsGrowth and Business

Accounting shows the trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet and the ledger for any account, plus a tax report of tax collected for a period.

Reports and exports

Reports covers sales (by day, product, category, store, cashier or payment method), purchases, expenses, profit, receivables, payables, stock on hand, stock movements, dead stock and reorder alerts.

Pick any date range and download any report as Excel or PDF.

InsightsPlans that include Insights

Sales and stock forecasts, product insights, a business health score and an assistant that answers questions about your numbers in plain English. Figures always come from your own data.

Billing and help

Your subscription and how to reach us.

Billing

Billing shows your invoices. Download a PDF receipt for any paid invoice.

USD: your card is charged each month. Use Manage card & subscription to change the card or cancel.

BDT: we send an invoice each month. Choose Pay invoice, scan the QR code and enter the transaction ID.

If an invoice stays unpaid past its due date, the account is locked to the Billing page until it is paid. Your data is kept.
