For owners and accountants

Inventory and double-entry accounting that update themselves

Most shops keep stock in one tool and books in another, then spend the month-end reconciling them. In CarrotPOS every sale, return, delivery and stock adjustment posts its own balanced journal entry, so the ledger always matches what happened in the shop.

What you get

  • Weighted average costing

Stock is valued at weighted average cost, and cost of goods sold is recorded with every sale. Inventory value on the balance sheet matches the stock report.

  • Purchase orders and receiving

Raise numbered purchase orders, receive goods in full or in part, and pay suppliers. What you owe each supplier is always up to date.

  • Stock counts, transfers and adjustments

Count stock and post only the differences, move stock between locations, and write off damaged or lost items with a reason.

  • Reorder alerts

Set a reorder point per product and location, and see what is running low before it runs out.

  • Financial statements

Trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet, general ledger and day book, all built from the journal and exportable to Excel or PDF.

  • VAT on sales and purchases

Tax inclusive or added on top, set once in Settings. Purchase VAT can be claimed back or added to stock cost, and the tax report shows what you owe.

  • Expenses

Record rent, utilities, salaries and other running costs paid in cash or from the bank, and see your real net profit.

  • Year-end close

Close the financial year in two steps: income and expenses move to retained earnings and the year's periods are locked.

Get set up in three steps

  1. 1

Import your products and opening stock from CSV, or add them by hand.

  2. 2

Buy with purchase orders and receive stock into the right location.

  3. 3

Sell as normal and read your profit and loss and balance sheet at any time.

Questions

Do I need to know accounting to use it?

No. Journal entries are posted for you by sales, purchases and adjustments. Your accountant gets full statements and the general ledger without any extra data entry.

Can I correct a posted entry?

Posted entries are never edited or deleted. Mistakes are corrected with a reversing entry, so the audit trail stays complete.

Which costing method does it use?

Weighted average cost, which is accepted under IFRS (IAS 2). LIFO is not offered because IFRS does not allow it.
